The Support Services Division is responsible for the Invetsigative Services Bureau, which conducts follow-up investigations, prepares criminal cases for prosecution, and processes juvenile offenders. Also within the Investigative Services Bureau are speciialized units that include Special Investigations Unit, Gang Investigation Unit, Crime Analyst, School Resource Officers, and Crime Scene Unit.

 

The Support Services Division is overseen by Captain Les Gogerty. Captain Gogerty began his law enforcement career with the Costa Mesa Police Department in 1985 and has had the opportunity to work a variety of assignments and details, including: Patrol Officer, Traffic Motor Officer, S.W.A.T. Officer, Special Enforcement Detail, Training Officer, Traffic Motor Supervisor, Special Events Coordinator and S.W.A.T. Team leader. As a Lieutenant he worked as a Patrol Area Commander, Detective Bureau Commander and in the Professional Standards Unit.

 

Captain Gogerty has an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management. He also earned a Master of Science Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
