Support Services
The Support Services Division is responsible for the Detective Bureau, which conducts follow-up investigations, prepares criminal matters for prosecution, and processes juvenile offenders. Support Services also provides helicopter patrol through participation in Airborne Law Enforcement (ABLE) and traffic enforcement and education through the Traffic Safety Bureau.
Support Services Captain - Ron Smith
Captain Smith began his law enforcement career with the Costa Mesa Police Department in 1979 and has had the opportunity to work a variety of assignments including: Patrol, Investigations, Crime Scene Investigation, Training Bureau, Jail Operations, Traffic Safety, Professional Standards, and S.W.A.T. Captain Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Occidental College and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from California State University, San Diego.
